What it is?
Re Rag Rug is an experimental project, which runs from August 2012 to August 2013. This project is an idea of the designers Katarina Brieditis and Katarina Evans from Sweden. Their goal with the project is to make every month different rugs of recycled materials. They also used various kinds of techniques, such as: plaiting, crocheting, knitting, macramé, rolling, cutting, appliqué, and embroidery
Why it’s cool?
This project appeals to me because it’s a temporary project. They make special rugs in a sustainable way. This sustainability is not only good for the environment but it is also special. Who could say that his rug is made of “worthless” sweater? They use sweaters from second-hand stores that normally seen as “worthless”. This project can be seen as well in different ways. They help second-hands shops off from their crappy clothes and they make a new design of recycled materials.
